People wear the cancer wristbands to create awareness about the cancer disease. There is a cancer week and people in all the fields will participate in this week. Once, cancer was a killer disease but now cure has been found to cancer and there are a lot of effective treatment methods to cure cancer. The cancer patients will be isolated and treated. There are different types of cancer and the name is given to the cancer according to the organ affected by the cancer as breast cancer, brain cancer etc. In most of the times, sports persons in the major tournaments like foot ball and cricket matches used to wear the cancer wristbands while playing in the matches during the cancer week. In the foot ball matches, the televisions used to show the cancer wristbands worn by the players during the start of the match when the players of both the teams will be gathered together to hear their respective national anthems. In the cricket, the players will be wearing the cancer wristbands through out the match and the television channels used to show these pictures in the big screen on the bowlers and the batsmen hands. Children love to wear the cancer wristbands and most of the school students will be wearing the bands in their hands all the time and during the friendship day, the students used to wear the friendship bands on their friends hands and each person will be having a lot of friendship bands. The shops near to the school and colleges will be selling the wrist bands at very low prices and the students purchase these wrist bands in large numbers and gift it to their friends in large numbers. Similarly, the cancer wristbands are distributed free of cost by the charity organizations and some of the hospitals specializing in cancer treatment. In some cases, there will be college students who will be distributing the wrist bands along the road side to the commuters and the two wheeler and four wheeler travelers. The college students show great interest in participating in processions and distributing the wrist bands to the public there by creating awareness among the public about the cancer disease. It is very common during the cancer week that the students will be participating in a lot of social events and arranges free check up camps for the public. The students will organize the entire event along with the support of the leading hospitals.
